§ From 1846-50, Bouguereau studied art at the École des Beaux-Arts, Paris.
§ In 1850, he won the Prix de Rome for his painting, Zenobia Found by Shepherds on the Banks of the Araxes.
§ In 1857, Bouguereau won the Medal of Honour for his painting, The Return of Tobias. In the same year, Emperor Napoleon III commissioned him to paint his and the Empress's portrait.
§ In 1859, he painted one of his greatest paintings, All Souls Day, which was purchased by the city of Bordeaux.
§ In 1863, Bouguereau finished 10 paintings including, Holy Family, which Napoleon III bought for his wife, Eugénie.
§ In 1876, Bouguereau became a Life Member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts.
§ In 1881, he was elected the first president of the Société des Artistes Français.
§ In 1885, he became Commander of the Legion of Honour and Grand Medal of Honour.
§ In 1905, William-Adolphe Bouguereau died in La Rochelle on August 19th of heart disease.
