Serpent's Nest

Serpent's Nest

James L. Shipman II
1/5 ( ratings)
Read this fantasy gaming novel and put yourself in their shoes as you follow the fantastic tale of high adventure with Xander Wolheim, Emerelda , Tog Narendip and the elf Ellavendril Supantakell, as they discover and uncover the many perils and mysteries of the dark side of an ancient medieval city. You will get an up close look inside this fantasy story at how it really would have been, had you been there in person.

Background: "Your name is Xander Wolheim, a common thief by nature, and a Human by race. At this very moment you are laying in the darkness your head throbbing painfully. You remember waiting for ever before being served a drink in the Kirchheim Hostel. Like any other dive in Kirchheim it was a shit-hole, a place where common folks like you hang out, when not out attempting to turn a coin. You went there looking for a good woman and a cool drink. You found neither!

Someone had suckered you by one of the oldest tricks in the book. Perfume and ample cleavage does it every time. You remember a large breasted waitress hanging on and around you, tempting you with her services, something you would have surely enjoyed had bad luck not stuck like a heavy blow to the head. You can only assume she put something into your drink. Like all con jobs and blow jobs she was gone and so was your money. With her went a pouch full of golden crowns you had worked hard to fill.

Luck for you that’s all the whore and her accomplices we after. You vaguely remember being dragged down an alley and then being placed into some kind of chute. You remember the two men laughing as they bagged you. They said you would make one hell of a snack for some lucky creature down there, and then they dropped you inside head first. Kirchheim serves all kinds they laughed. You barely remember the long slide down, but not the impact afterward.

Rolling over onto your back you slowly sit up, surrounded by total darkness and the feeling of helplessness. Fumbling in your back you find a torch. Cursing yourself for your stupidity, it takes more than five minutes before it finally starts flaming. Your are seated in a ten by fifteen foot room with four rotting corpses. Kicking one out of surprise, you quickly move away from the corpse laying right next to you, but nothing happens. The smooth inlaid stone room has two exits, one is a open doorway and the other is a chute angling upwards in the ceiling of the back wall."

This is grim realism written as it should be. What are you waiting for?
