I loved this book! Literally could not put it down.
Kind of an abrupt ending , left me wanting more. Overall I enjoyed the read.
3.5 rounded up. I don’t know where to start. I actually enjoyed this more than I thought I would. The book started off very “romancy” and I’m not really a big fan of romance, yet. However, the story was really interesting and made me want to keep reading. At times it was really funny, like I actually laughed out loud kind of funny. But I believe this book was marketed wrong? Maybe. It’s marketed as a “psychological thriller” and I could see where the author was going with it, but it just didn’t
Shallow but intriguingGood for a shallow beach read. No substance but kept me wanting to finish to find out the end. 3*
Great story! Sad, funny and loved the ending
This book was kick ass. For one thing it made me laugh out loud hysterically! I don't know why but this book hit my funny bone. I never knew this author could be so hilarious. Her other books weren't humorous. So maybe it was just me, but I loved this story. Had some really good parts. Charlotte is a single dermatologist who meets a handsome man and ends up getting married, then shot in an attempted murder. Her stay at the hospital was where it got funny. We don't know who tried to kill her but
1,5/5. Very slow pace. Long part of it should have been taken out. Poorly written. Story and characters that are not really interesting. I really don't get the very very high rating this book currently have on good read, almost 4.5, this is ridiculous... The only thing that was a bit interesting was the reconstruction after brain damage, but if you're interested into that, read a informative book or a real life story, not this piece of fiction...
As the title suggests this is about a persons recovery from brain damage. Told before and after the event causing the brain damage - Dr Charlotte McKenna is a dermatologist , 37 years old with no children. When a patient starts showing interest in her she goes against her ethical duties and begins dating Clark. What follows is the story of their romance followed by the recovery in rehab.
Brain Damage by Freida McFaddenAbout the book:After years of hard work, Dr. Charly McKenna finally has it all. Prosperous career as a dermatologist? Check. Spacious apartment overlooking Central Park? Check. Handsome lawyer husband? Double check. Then one night, a bullet rips through the right side of her skull and she loses everything. As Charly struggles to recover from her brain injury, she begins to realize that the events of that fateful night are trapped in the damaged right side of her brai...
This book was VERY different from the others I’ve read by McFadden. I wouldn’t really describe this as a thriller. It was a beautiful and emotional read though!
😊Charly has everything she has ever wanted, a prosperous career as a dermatologist, a good apartment overlooking Central Park. A good looking lawyer husband who loves her for who she is.Charly's life changes forever one night, a brain injury due to a bullet ripping through the right side of her skull. The result in being memory failure, no vision at all of anything that is down her left side, no feeling down her left side. She can't walk, can't talk, can't do anything for herself at all. No memo...
Brain Damage by Freida McFadden is a psychological thriller about a doctor who was shot in the head. Charlotte McKenna, a successful dermatologist, had everything she wanted but a husband, until she met Clark in her practice. She did not date patients, but Clark charmed her, and several months later they were married. The marriage quickly soured after she discovered he was a liar and a cheat. Charly becomes brain damaged after being shot in the head resulting in left visual field neglect (cannot...
The story was well researched and I learned quite a bit about several ways brain damage can occur and how difficult it can be to deal with it. Some people are lucky and can heal and others will never find their way back. There were good descriptions of how hard people must work to help those who are mentally, and as a result, physically, unable to help themselves. I took off two stars because of the silly mystery that is part of the story. The bad guys were like those you would find in a very lo...
This book has a touch of everything. Though it falls into the genre of "thriller" admirably, it was more than a page turner where one is trying to figure out what happened to the main, highly likeable character Dr Charly McKenna. Charly is a highly successful 36 year old dermatologist with a wicked sense of humour. Her most appealing physical attribute is her violet-coloured eyes. She has given up on meeting Mr Right when a gorgeous male specimen steps into her rooms as a patient and life is lit...
There is something about the writing style that kept making me pause, shake my head and then move on. The back and forth in time is usually a great suspense builder but these seemed to be big spoilers instead.Other things that stood out to me (in no particular order):How can Charly have been so easily conned, because Clark is handsome? At first, sure, but no job, extra week in Bahamas alone, hates her cat… peace out, pretty Clark!Looks seem very important to everyone in this book. I can apprecia...
I’m a Freida McFadden fan, but I have to say this is quite possibly one of the worst books I’ve read.Brain Damage has a plot that is paper thin. The writing is weak and repetitive and there is zero suspense. I expected so much more, especially since this was touted as a “gripping psychological thriller.” The main character, Charly, excuses every horrible thing her husband does because he’s extremely handsome. She mentions how handsome he is at least 500 times in throughout the story, and never a...
I loved this story. I also enjoyed the first person point of view. It fit well with this type of story. I read it in one sitting. I was immediately gripped by the plot as wellas the characters. It has lots of twists but the last one didnt surprise me as i knew who it was all along.
This book made me angry, it made me laugh and it made me cry. It was a little slow at times but I enjoyed it. I absolutely loved the ending!!
