A scattering of Black Panther comics, which don't really serve as a prelude to the movie itself. If anything, it will make you want to read other graphic novels featuring the Super Hero King of Wakanda.
Two stars because I loved the Artwork. The plot was meh and it was a chore to read in general as all them preludes.
That was boring... I wanna say I would have cared more if I had read it closer to watching the movie but I'm actually not sure.
This was definitely my favorite of all the prelude comics I have read. This was a completely original story to set up the film, while the others I have read were recaps from related MCU films. I would love more MCU comics to supplement the films, especially Black Panther.
As far as the preludes go, this is one of the better ones. For one, it tells a story as opposed to being just a flat recap of things seen in the move. The art is better than in others, and there is some interesting stuff. It doesn't compare to real comics at all, but I'm ranking it in comparison to the other preludes since, well, they are all clear cash grabs either way. As far as lazy cash grabs go, this is one of the better ones.
This is by far the best Black Panther comic I've read, and I know I haven't read many. When it comes to the MCU Prelude comics, very few manage to tell a well-rounded story and pull it off, but this one actually does. The timeline of this story takes place after the events of Iron Man, and we see T'Challa has been the Black Panther for "about a week". This one definitely packs a punch when it comes to the action, and whilst the artwork is decent, it fails to capture the likenesses of the actors....
I loved the actual prelude story, but it was a fraction of the book. Come on, Marvel - you can do way better than this.
This book is a graphic novel about Black Panther. Black Panther is a superhero. Black Panther saves people from a dark force. He can surf circles around the bad people. This is an awesome book. Strength of the text (what was the text good at)Sentence 1: This was good at telling a story with pictures.Sentence 2-3: It is a touching book because it reminds me of Begad from Montessori. We would always do "Wakanda Forever!" There was a lot of kissing and fighting.Sentence 4: Transition phrase (the au...
An unnecessary comic. Poorly written. Cliched and shallow. This is an example of Marvel exploiting a product sales opportunity that does not drive story, character, or brand. I'll skip the rest of the cinematic universe preludes.
I really liked how more stories it had!
This book collects several Black Panther stories told through the years featuring. The first story is a two-issue tale meant as a prelude to the Black Panther movie. The story establishes the cinematic relationship between T'Challa and his father T'Chaka, king of Wakanda. The father is passing the Black Panther mantel to his son. T'Challa uses his skills well defending their hidden country and its citizens abroad. I don't think I learned much about the characters or where the movie is going. The
Again another great and quick read before Black Panther the movie came out!!! I love that I got to see more of T’Chaka, and his relationship to T’Challa!! This is a great read before the movie comes out. Seriously is #BlackPanther OUT YET...I’m so ready for this movie to be HERE!!!
An unnecessary comic. Not written well and another example of Marvel looking for the cash and not have a great story. And it is basically a handful of new comics and a bunch of old comics in it. I didn't want to read about Black Panther back in the day. Look at the title. This is supposed to be the Prelude to the movie. Half of this graphic novel is filler. Disappointing.
Not gonna lie... after reading this, I'm actually kind of excited for the "Black Panther" movie. I wasn't originally because the trailers don't show much story; they mostly seem like, "Oooh... look how cool the Black Panther is! Check out these special effects!" However, it's the MCU, so (excepting "Thor: Ragnorak"), I have a decent amount of trust in them to produce a quality movie. However, reading this prelude and learning a bit more about the character... now I'm genuinely looking forward to...
This movie tie-in comic explores the first week when T’Challa became the Black Panther during his father's reign. Events within occur about a week after the end of the first Iron Man film. The comic also depicts the beginning of his relationship with Okoye and them being on missions together.
I think I'm done with Marvel graphic novels for a while. Half the time there is a handful of new comics and then a plethora of old comics to fill it out. I didn't want to read about Black Panther back in the day. Look at the title. This is supposed to be the Prelude to the movie. And yeah, there is a tiny smidge of a story around his early days as Black Panther (which I did enjoy), but well over half of this graphic novel is filler. Disappointing.
The newest entry into the Marvel film Prelude editions was a mixed bag for this veteran comics reader. I'd give the first four issues collected (Black Panther Prelude #1 & #2 plus the classic 1970's Jungle Action #6 & #7) all five stars as I loved the set-up for the film and the storylines of the old series. But like the Doctor Strange Movie Prelude, the last three issues were teasers for other Black Panther collections. Of these, the weakest story was Black Panther #19 from the 1998 series. The...

Toutefois,...
