I want to read the next issue already!
I got this book from my Secret Elf!"Leslie is a simple pig girl. She loves sushi, she’s stuck with a job she hates, and she lives under a brutal totalitarian government—one that punishes transgressors for anything deemed “unnatural.” Leslie dreams of something different for herself. But those dreams are becoming dangerous… This Italian hit series by MIRKA ANDOLFO (Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, DC Comics Bombshells) will transport you into a colorful but terrible world—full of anthropomorphic creat...
Look, I get the subtext, the whole animals standing in for something else bit. I get it, I do. I just don't understand why I have to have tits thrust in my face. Sorry. So much female nudity for no reason.Oh, and Blacksad did the same topic, ever so much better.
This is a graphic novel originally published in Italy in 2016. So very glad it has come to the U.S! Set in a world of sentient animals (pigs, goats) where cross-species and same-sex fraternizing is illegal and marriage and procreation is mandatory after the age of 25. Complex, with amazing characters. And beautifully illustrated to boot. Just, wow!(A review copy was provided by the publisher.)
It's very nicely drawn, the "racial" theme seems interesting and all but... it's just to furry for me.
I picked this up on a whim because I loved the art...World Building! The world here is really cool. There is governmental programs to stop inter species relationships, and a "dating" program that you enter on a specific birthday to find you a partner of your species. My favorite part though is Goth Lol where the main character works!Star: 1/1Characters!I love the main character Leslie so much....that I wanna cosplay her!!All the characters are animals, but made human looking. I think it's super
overall: 2/5. beautiful art, shit story. bland characters, convoluted setting, too neat an ending, and flavourless romance - would have been better off as friends! andolfo does cut down on the unnecessarily sensual panels later on. they don't add anything to the story beyond its inception. the whole dystopian government bit never really makes sense. the mythological aspect of it - WHY is the albino bound to her? - is not explained well either. one entire issue was devoted to a friend's death pur...
Translated from Italian. Trigger warning for sexual harassment in the workplace. Smut with a Zootopia (anthropomorphic animals living in a restrictive/oppressive society) meets Black Mirror (technology, capitalism, reproductive control) meets Vampire Diaries (dangerous desires, erotic dreams that maybe be the result of magic, shrouded stalkers) feel. I don’t particularly enjoy the protagonist Leslie but I’m curious to see where this is going to go.
I knew I wanted to read this comic ever since I saw the sneak peek in the April Issue of Previews. An adorably chubby pig girl is having erotic dreams about a Wolf man. What more could a comic blogger who grew up on Harry Potter fan fiction want? So when it became available to review I jumped at the opportunity.Unnatural is about a pig girl named Leslie that lives in a time where the government is not only overbearing but passing laws and regulations that push a particular type of relationship o...
Love Leslie's personality and her friends. The art is gorgeous. Definitely a favorite.
Stunning artwork!!! And really intriguing story! Can't wait to get my hands on the next.
Image has another home run!!!! Mirka Andolfo's Unnatural is a new MUST ADD to your pull list. If you like Saga and Sunstone, then Unnatural is going to be right up your alley. From the rich colors and artwork, this is a 12 issue series I am really looking forward to diving into. Originally printed in Italy, Mirka Andolfo, with the help of Image, has brought this story to English speakers/readers for the first time. Being introduced to Leslie, our main character, right away in such a sexually cha...
Very promisingI don’t think I’d heard of this speculative fiction/fantasy comic before. The art is quite good and the concept is sufficiently disturbing:)
