Penshaw is book thirteen in the DCI Ryan Mysteries series and it’s every bit as entertaining as all the previous books, which I have read and LOVED! I feel like I am becoming very repetitive in my reviews of this series, but honestly, I can’t recommend them highly enough. Each book is unique, but similar at the same time, if that makes sense!? I really enjoyed listening to this. I live not far from the villages mentioned and I couldn't help but make mental notes of some of the places to visit. I thought that the story was well thought out and you can't help but like Ryan, his team and his wife Annie. I have just waded in with the series and need to listen to them as and when they are available from the library, which will be interesting.All in all, a good solid police drama.

Another great read from L.J. Ross. I’d recommend reading the previous books in the series to get the most from this book, or at the very least, the previous book - The Moor. Lots happens in The Moor and has repercussions in this book for Jack. The book gets off to a flying start and doesn’t let go until the gripping conclusion. There’s a few murders for the team to get stuck into but Ryan is also tasked with finding some corrupt officers. Another great read in this brilliant series.

I ordered Penshaw because I'm very familiar with the area. I didn't realise there were a dozen books featuring DCI Ryan which precede this. Penshaw is an excellent detective story with some very attractive heroes, some dreadful villains, thrilling locations and fascinating plot.
