As always lots of twists and turns and a cliffhanger to keep the reader waiting for the next instalment of Alex Gregory’s story
Average read
How does she do it EVERY SINGLE TIME?! Another Gregory instalment finished - I’m sat here at half past midnight collecting my thoughts… I’m just in constant awe of the sheer talent this wonderlady has! Gregory is back from the US and easing back into somewhat a routine, with repercussions to face at Southmoor he awaits his fate. Nevertheless, his and Bill’s services are much needed once again for a mysterious apparent suicide of a rather famous Westend actor. Suspected suicide by Hemlock… or is
I am really enjoying the Alexander Gregory series and this didn't disappoint. I actually did guess right who the murderer was in this one. That never happens! This installment is set in the world of celeb and theatre when an titan of the stage collapsed on stage. Was it murder or suicide? (Murder, obviously murder). The story was gripping, I stayed up late to finish it. My only qualm with the series is that Gregory really doesn't have to have sexual tension with every woman he spends time with.
When I saw there was another of the Alexander Gregory thrillers out I had to read it! I love this series and can’t wait for more.Hysteria is set in the theatre and kick starts with the on-stage death of a famous actor. At first it looks like a heart attack but it’s soon discovered to be poison. After Alexander Gregory tries to save the actor’s life he becomes involved in the case, first as a suspect, then helping the police with his expertise as a criminal profiler while they try to work out if
Mania is book 4 in the series following the intriguing Dr Gregory. This time we are in the world of London's Broadway and find Alex and his good friend and mentor Bill at a show when tragedy strikes. Initially a suspect, Alex finds himself being asked to use his abilities as a profiler to aid the police in their search for the culprit. This was another excellently plotted yet twisty tale that delves a little furthe again into the interesting psyche of Dr Gregory. Looking forward to what comes nex...
I have already read the three previous Alex Gregory stories and enjoyed them. I was enjoying this fourth episode immensely and just as the story was reaching its climax, it suddenly ended! I felt shocked, and yes if that is a tactic to make the reader hurry to get the next instalment of the Gregory saga then it certainly will work, although personally it felt too obvious a ploy and I felt cheated of a story ending. I have read many books by L J Ross and like her style of writing and her characte...
A great PLAY on words.Yes you’ve guessed it, Alex Gregory is back again, along with his friend (or would that be better as surrogate father) Bill Douglas in a story that covers basically everything that could and does have an effect on anyone of us at some point in our lifetime, greed, motivation, passion, jealousy, violence, reputation, empathy, remorse (or lack of it) and that ultimate sin murder so what’s there not to like about this book?Happy reading.
Mania by LJ RossMania by L J Ross is book 4 in the Alexander Gregory Thriller series and again is an excellent read. Alexander Gregory is a fascinating character and he is becoming more human with every book. At the beginning he seemed to have few characteristics that the reader could empathise with. The books are a fascinating read and I look forward to reading the next in the series.Highly recommended.
I certainly enjoyed ‘Mania’ & will happily recommend it along with the others in the series & the DCI Ryan series too! I just felt that while a good read & interesting plot - the book seemed a little ‘hurried’ dispensing one story arc for the next which will obv be continued in the next instalment. Don’t get me wrong, LJ Ross is a terrific author - I just feel lately that with now 3 series on the go & all deservedly commercially successful - the top quality of the early books is being a bit dilu...
