This book was outstanding. A very real and raw story of perseverance. David Goggins has unlocked the mind and knows how to push himself beyond normal limits. Great inspiration and insight.
"You can't hurt me" is a misleading title to an incredible story of a man who has endured every pain imaginable but somehow overcame them all to push past what we all thought was possible. I drew lots of inspiration and encouragement from this story. You always hear that your mind is stronger than your body, well here is a story that proves that to be true. The mind can overcome so many struggles and after reading this book I will strive to make my mind stronger.
What amazes me more than what this extraordinary person went through and the immense success he achieved is how nowadays even illiterate people can become bestselling authors.
Just awesome!
"Can't Hurt Me: Master Your Mind and Defy the Odds" by David Goggins ...I usually choose literary/contemporary fiction, but the title and book cover made me choose this one. Admittedly, it was a "man's" book, but the first page was good enough for me to read the entire book. The author was amazing in his fortitude and discipline...failing 2 times and finally succeeding at the Navy Seals, Army Ranger, and Air Force Tactical Air Controller and participating in 80 100 mile/24 hour marathons. He was...
It is indeed an inspiring read. But at times it feels a bit over-stretched in terms of challenges and agony associated with it. Another aspect is the non-universality of what Goggins experienced or learned. His ways are not always valid for people in the creative world. The central moral is great but the way that is applied by Goggins is not suitable for anybody and everybody. A poet or an artist or a scientist functions differently than a NAVY SEAL.The spirit to do record number of push-ups is
Only read Can’t Hurt Me, which was good especially going through a recovery for a broken leg, but it got really repetitive as these books seem to get. We had different childhoods so it’s hard for me to have the same kind of motivation David had to “take people’s souls” but I see where he’s coming from. Good book for those who hit a tough physical spot in their life and need some motivation to get your head back to a good spot.
I am very fortunate that i stumbled upon this book. It has given me a totally new perspective to life. It has answered lot of lingering questions in my mind about purpose, failure, underachievement, etc. When i reached the last chapter i was hoping it to last longer, because everyday reading this book have me direction and also motivated me. I recommend this book to people who want to lead by example and understand what life is about and why it is the way it is. "Good luck Goggins"
Haven't read the book but I listen to it, several times It's a book every person should listen to, every1 could do with a little (atlest) more will power and harden mind set The audio book was very good as it give u a podcast along with the book and challenged u to do stuff as u listen If you are a good reader then I'm sure you could get the book finished
So this book is a life changer. I think Mr Goggins is a man who has seen the side beyond human limitations and I think he knows Jesus. He also knows that we are all dark deep within and he knows how to harness that power for good!A must read!!
Good points made about attitude and success. Goggins succeeds in physical and psychological accomplishments but fails because his inability to overcome his profound and completely unnecessary profanity imprisons him in the lowest level of society.
Great motivational book. I just wonder if his level of motivation is truly healthy for an individual and their relationships. He seems to foccus too much on one thing and in response miss out on the bigger picture of life.
Amazing biography! Good self-work exercises! Lots of profanity. Will listen to again. Unique delivery of the material by making a podcast-like audiobook.
I got a lot out of this book. David’s childhood and mine were a lot the same. Reading the book caused me to reflect on my relationships with other people. I have also taken time to reflect on where I’m at in life and appreciate the failures and successes that have gotten me to this point in life.
