This is the second book in The Ladyships series. Since I didn't read the first book, I was a little bit lost at first with the characters and concepts mentioned but it all was made clearer as the story moved on. Nevertheless, perhaps it's best to read the first book to know the background (I'll be certainly reading it).I won't describe the plot, just say that I loved the main characters but not from the beginning...I thought the heroine to be the typical vapid "good" person, too good to be belie...
Such potential. Entertaining story with isolated stand out characters but lack of flow and a female lead character who falls under TSTL just didn't do it for me.
Send in the clownsMaude knew something was up when she woke up with fancy new metal. And we aren't talking piercings. Nothing on Earth looked like what was currently wrapped around her. The second clue was the giant lizards, and, hey, the fact that she could understand them. Luckily, darts kept them at a stalemate till Therion showed up. Therion followed through on his promise to Seph, a newly recognized human Athela. The possibility of more hapless, and possibly helpless, human women being out
A great follow on from the first in this series. The riot is the brother, and the Bane to Zver's Thane.A man of many faces, all of them smirking, he takes the challenge to find other human women who may have been abducted from Earth. Maude is living in an open prison, unknowingly being experimented on when the alien tech that latched on to her allows it. Is it this and the stress of aliens being real that is slowly taking her mind?Nope. But it's nice to think that. There ion rescues the human, aft...
This brings a whole new level of great reading to the sci-fi romance realm. I was blown away, BM has created a futuristic other worldly universe that’s ...well completely alien. I’ll admit it boggles the mind in some places as you’re trying to picture what exactly is being described but it’s exactly what an alien world should be, alien. Loved it the romance was sweet and hot and a lot of fun to follow. I’m hooked.
This book is just flat-out great entertainment. Funny characters. No re-treads. Interesting world building. Secondary characters that are capable (and often do) steal every scene they are in. Complex establishment of long story arc. Loving this series.
It starts slow but then lives up to its promise, although the story is slow to start, once it gets going, it really rocks! The characterizations were complex and well written, I loved the dichotomy between Therion and Maude and how they naturally complement each other. I loved the first book in the series and looked forward to reading this one, they were both interesting in their own ways. I'm looking forward to the next one, where maybe the energy shells will reveal some good news for Seph and
Therion’s story is amazing! The façade Therion wears leads people to disregard him, thinking he’s a fool, spouting crazy ideas. It’s amazing what can be accomplished under that guise.Therion is the Bane of Borac - what did he have to offer her? He doesn’t give himself credit, even though he finds Maude irresistible. Therion is such an extraordinary personality! How could anyone resist him? Not me! And certainly not Maude. Surely, a match meant to be.The humor keeps me laughing throughout! There i...
Therion's story!!!! Maude and Therion were quite the pair. She saw him for who he really was and he loved her for her differences. New tech is discovered. We see more of the Borac family and it is awesome!!! Characters that were fun - Gummy and Culler. We find out more about how Maude and Seph got to the market where they were found. It's shocking and a fabulous twist!
I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. I laughed the entire book. To get a good understanding of the developing backstory, they definitely should be read in order (this being book 2). I can't wait to see book 3.
Kindle Unlimited.2.5 stars rounded up.The heroine in this book was beyond irritating. She was timid, doesn’t see the evil in the world & kind of falls into the TSTL category.BUT the hero completely made up for it. He was beyond funny.Recommended as filler.
This. Book. NGL, I had my doubts in the first 20% of this story. Even though I DLed it from KU immediately upon release, I was afraid to read it. Because I loved the first one and Therion so much, I was terrified I was going to be disappointed and avoided this read for a stupidly long time. And at first? It looked like I might be. But. This book is full of unexpected reveals, twists, turns, and wonderfully layered characters, just like the first one. With heavy doses of rough humor. My Space Fam...

Brilliant!! Bex McLynn has crafted a world with the intrigue of the days of knights & ladies and mashed it up with a futuristic alien romance! Bane is a multi-faceted masterpiece. Therion is of House Borac. He’s a younger brother to the Thane. He’s Irreverent and a ne’er-do-well of many talents. Then enters Maude who awakens on a desert planet with a “spider” of alien tech attached to her. (You’ll come to love Kora, the spider.) Coveted human and a technopath, of which she is unaware, Maude is b...
Therion is the Bane of Borac - you get little glimpses in Thanemonger that all is not as it seems with him. He's good at putting on a facade.....the fool, the drunk, the man who visits sex droids........all isn't as it seems. By the end of book one I needed his story, badly!!This one shows us the real Therion, yes he cusses like a little potty mouthed fiend, yes he's not always the most honest person but all this is for a reason.......you'll have to wait and see, just like Maude did. She's almos...
I started this book right after I finished reading the first book, "Thanemonger". Going from a very strong, crafty heroine to one who is much more timid and trusting was definitely a switch. Normally, the type of character that Maude is is one that would turn me off of a book, but I so loved the first book and absolutely adored Therion that I opted to muddle through.Glad I did because Maude is a bit more than she appears and has a backbone. Also, the twists in this story with regards to "Gummy",...
*WARNING* contains explicit sexual contentI was a little confused in the beginning with all of the odd names, but once I got that sorted it was all good. I also think the female lead is to naive. I have to say, I 💖 the Bane character. Bane is funny, strong, protective, but underneath all of the bravado is feelings of being unworthy and insecure. Gummy was a surprise and my favorite character of the book. I think this quite different from Thanemonger (book 1) because this one has a lot more "funn...
I didn't think it was possible to top Thanemonger but I like this book even more because of Therion, Zver's screwup, wastrel younger brother who spent his life running his mouth off, pissing people off and playing the fool. The thing is, he does this to distract everyone from his real plans and to make them all discount him. In reality, he's 100% committed to his house and his family. Everything he does is to help them and he's willing to seriously jeopordize his own health and appear as the dre...
I hate/love this book!Do you remember the first time you had a sour sweet. You screwed up your face and then took another.... well this book started this way for meThe story is told with references and language that is not always clear and I confess that I almost put this down but this had nothing but good reviews. Deep breath, stick with the books and read another couple of chapters. As you read the details become clearer and story more addictive Great characters, a great story and so glad I di...
The start was a bit puzzling and what looked like captured slaves trying to escape turned out to be something completely different. This story is about aliens from planet Teras saving humans who appear to possess a specific talent that marks them as distinguished and desirable. Everyone is playing a role, well every Teras, because Maude, the human has no idea what is going on. The Teras in charge of her rescue is Therion and he quickly falls in love with Maude. However Maude has her heart set on...
