Okay, not the best comic I've read and not going to bother with volume 2
This was interesting, liked the concept of it, liked both Adam Land and Elakshi Land and will read more of the series. Do note that it's a series, this ended abruptly but the storyline is engrossing enough to want me to read more of the series verse not bothering with it.
Quantum and Woody with better action and less goofiness. Elakshi and Adam are two people with opposite powers. He can attract things while she repels them. If they touch or get too far apart they explode. They've been on the run for the last year from an assassin sent by a group afraid of their powers. The book is witty and fun with lots of action and intrigue. I loved the cold open sequence. It will feel like you've started reading the middle chapter of a book, but stick with it, things are expl...
I like the concept well enough, but the execution (starting in media res with little explanation, some of the mystery element, the connection to the larger superpowered universe, some of the artwork, the number of issues) left me feeling a little mixed. (e-galley from NetGalley)
What is going on here? The artwork is impressive, but the storyline is such a random jumble I couldn't follow it. I kept thinking I had picked up something from the middle of the series--thus explaining my confusion--but no, it is supposedly volume one.
I received an ARC of this title from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.Elakshi and Adam Land. No, they're not married. No, they're not siblings either. One is an Apache med-school drop out, the other an Indian world-champion dancer. They're two perfect strangers with the same last name, until fate brings them together one night. And tragedy occurs.Elakshi and Adam cannot touch each other. Nor can they be too far apart. Otherwise, they could cause terrible destruction. Neither knows what
I liked it! A different take on people with super-powers.
My second attempt at getting into the H1 Ignition Universe leaves me pretty discouraged. This is just an ugly mess of fugitives, assassins, secret organizations and mindless action. None of the characters seem to make decisions like real people, just doing whatever the dumb plot needs them to do to get to the next random scene.
Elakshi and Adam are two strangers tied together by their superpowers. Unable to touch, and also unable to be apart, they are on a quest to rid themselves of their destructive power. They're also being followed by a British intelligence agent for an unknown reason. Fast paced, witty, with beautiful illustrations. I look forward to reading the next volume when it is released. *Thanks to Edelweiss and the publisher for sharing an e-copy with me in exchange for my honest review.*
Superpowers with an interesting twist and in a shared universe, of which this is my first exposure.
I had no preconceived notions about this comic going into it. I had never heard about it or knew what the concept was past what I read in the description. That being said, I really, really enjoyed this comic. The concept was interesting and something that I haven't really come across much in all my comic book reading. I liked the two main characters. They felt like real people and I'm looking forward to reading more and learning more about them. If you are tired of the same old comics about peop...
Love the concept. Love the art. Love the dialogue. I cannot wait for more of this series.
While the Ignited power that links Adam and Elakshi is intriguing, this book doesn't really capitalize on it. It's weird to start the story well after the instigating incident, and the focus of these issues (a 'treatment' center in Colorado with ulterior motives) doesn't really serve as a good introduction to the characters or powers. The plot is predictable, and only comes alive when their power actually comes into play. The villains are shallow and the ignition event, which is the most interes...
I've been really enjoying Ignited and now Strangelands is the second Humanoids title I've started reading. I tend to love anything Magdalene Visaggio writes, so I was definitely going to be in on this series from the start. And… there is promise here. As I tend to write too often when reviewing comics, I tend to dislike issue #1 of anything (and find that I like an issue #1 about one star less than the issues that follow in each series): I find that they often have more set-up than story, at leas...
It's disappointing when an interesting concept (such as two opposing powers exhibited in two people who cannot be physically separated or else catastrophe ensues) isn't executed coherently. This was just a bunch of mashed-up chase scenes with no actual plot or any kind of intrigue to keep me invested in reading any further into the series. It's obvious with the lack of background information (how these characters got their powers, what's going on in their environment, what motivates them, etc.)
I received an ARC of this title from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.Elakshi and Adam once were strangers. By luck, they met one night and have been inseparable since. They've been on the run, thick as thieves, two strangers find themselves inextricably tied together by inexplicable superpowers. They must stick together because fighting their connection could bring dire consequences. The opening pages seat us in the heat of a chase, Adam is trying to get their pursuer further from the...
