Okay, not the best comic I've read and not going to bother with volume 2
This was interesting, liked the concept of it, liked both Adam Land and Elakshi Land and will read more of the series. Do note that it's a series, this ended abruptly but the storyline is engrossing enough to want me to read more of the series verse not bothering with it.
Quantum and Woody with better action and less goofiness. Elakshi and Adam are two people with opposite powers. He can attract things while she repels them. If they touch or get too far apart they explode. I like the concept well enough, but the execution (starting in media res with little explanation, some of the mystery element, the connection to the larger superpowered universe, some of the artwork, the number of issues) left me feeling a little mixed. (e-galley from NetGalley)
What is going on here? The artwork is impressive, but the storyline is such a random jumble I couldn't follow it. I kept thinking I had picked up something from the middle of the series--thus explaining my confusion--but no, it is supposedly volume one.

I liked it! A different take on people with super-powers.
My second attempt at getting into the H1 Ignition Universe leaves me pretty discouraged. This is just an ugly mess of fugitives, assassins, secret organizations and mindless action. None of the characters seem to make decisions like real people, just doing whatever the dumb plot needs them to do to get to the next random scene.
Elakshi and Adam are two strangers tied together by their superpowers. Unable to touch, and also unable to be apart, they are on a quest to rid themselves of their destructive power. They're also being followed by a British intelligence agent for an unknown reason. Fast paced, witty, with beautiful illustrations. Superpowers with an interesting twist and in a shared universe, of which this is my first exposure.
I had no preconceived notions about this comic going into it. I had never heard about it or knew what the concept was past what I read in the description. That being said, I really, really enjoyed this comic. The concept was interesting and something that I haven't really come across much in all my comic book reading. I liked the two main characters. While the Ignited power that links Adam and Elakshi is intriguing, this book doesn't really capitalize on it. It's weird to start the story well after the instigating incident, and the focus of these issues (a 'treatment' center in Colorado with ulterior motives) doesn't really serve as a good introduction to the characters or powers. It's disappointing when an interesting concept (such as two opposing powers exhibited in two people who cannot be physically separated or else catastrophe ensues) isn't executed coherently. This was just a bunch of mashed-up chase scenes with no actual plot or any kind of intrigue to keep me invested in reading any further into the series. It's obvious with the lack of background information (how these characters got their powers, what's going on in their environment, what motivates them, etc.)
